Founders and the self-employed

We help you start out on the right foot: choosing the right legal structure, registering and claiming the support you are entitled to.

What we do

  • A side-by-side comparison: self-employed (autónomo) or limited company (S.L.)
  • The tax regime and obligations of each option
  • Registration with the Tax Agency and the Social Security
  • The flat-rate contribution (tarifa plana) and tracking when it ends
  • Taking your unemployment benefit as a lump sum (pago único)
  • Showing the SEPE how the lump sum has been invested
  • Business plan and viability report
  • Applications for start-up grants

Before you register

We sit down with you to talk about your business, the turnover you expect, your costs, whether you will hire staff and whether you have partners. With that information we compare what you would pay as a self-employed person and as a company, in both tax and Social Security contributions, and recommend the option that fits best. You get it in writing, together with the engagement letter.

Lump-sum payment and viability report

If you are receiving unemployment benefit and want to start a business, you can apply to have it paid as a lump sum (pago único) to invest in your business. We prepare the application, the project report and, afterwards, the evidence of how the money was invested. If the Public Employment Service (SEPE) asks for documents, we respond to the request.

Frequently asked questions

Is it better to be self-employed or to set up a company?

It mainly depends on how much you expect to earn, how risky the business is and whether you have partners. On lower incomes, being self-employed usually works out better; above a certain level of profit, a company does. We run the numbers with your figures.

What happens when the flat-rate contribution ends?

Your monthly contribution goes up to the amount that corresponds to your earnings. We let you know in good time and check whether you can extend it or whether it makes sense to adjust your contribution base.
